Why use linux/ubuntu?
1) Free... completely free
2) Constantly being updated
3) Virus Free
4) Nearly all special effects can be enabled on older computers
5) Linux is sooo customizable, since everyone has access to the source code, it gets changed quickly and efficiently making every ones linux OS different.
6) Fast as hell.. boots up in a few seconds.
7) You can keep you windows (choose which OS to go into when you startup your computer)
8) Nice community always wanting to help out friendly noobs.
9) Never crashes (unless you screw something up)
10) Some distros (ubuntu) allow you to use the CD (flash drive) to actually boot up!! you don't even need a harddrive to try it out!! I bring my flash drive to school and run linux on my schools computer.. hehe
11) It is the future.
12) Why not?

Linux is alot different from windows so it takes a while to learn it. If you decide to try out linux try the Ubuntu distro. Its one of the most noob friendly/customizable ones out there.

That looks really cool.

I like the fire effect and how the window Wiggles like that. When you move it.
The most coolest thing is that Cube plugin. I wish vista could do that :(

The newest Ubuntu comes with a program called Wubi. It allows you to install ubuntu inside of your windows installation without the need to make partitions (logical separations of your harddrive) for linux to run on. Its super easy to use, and if your nervous there are tons of guides and such.

The only way you can mess up your computer is if you delete everything or uninstall the bootloader (which can be reinstalled btw)

I can locate a guide if your interested.

Looks great, I really like the whole "dragging" box thing. Too bad my computer ccan't process all of that at the same time so it'll be slow as crap lol.

My mom's $500 laptop can do all of that. (2 years old)

If you can play Half-life (my mom's laptop barely could) then you will be able to do all of that stuff.

How much processing power do you think it takes to make little simple graphics like that. Compiz is optimized exceptionally well for older computers. (unlike vista)
